Abstract:Objective To understand the cognitive status of hospice care and the knowledge demand of hospice care among nursing interns. Methods From March 2022 to May 2022, 441 nursing interns from 4 Class Ⅲ general hospitals in Fuzhou City were investigated by convenience sampling to conduct a general information questionnaire, hospice care cognition questionnaire, and hospice care knowledge demand questionnaire. Results The total score of hospice care cognition of nursing interns was (7.78±3.54), the score of philosophy and principle of hospice care was (1.74±1.00), the score of symptom control was (4.55±2.42), and the score of psychological and social support was (1.49±0.87). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that understanding hospice nursing , and having experience caring for end-stage patients were the influencing factors of nursing interns’ high cognitive score of hospice care. The top five nursing interns’ demands for hospice care knowledge were humanistic care, psychological care, basic nursing technology, death education, and palliative care technology. Conclusions Nursing interns have low awareness of hospice care and high demand for hospice care knowledge. Schools should pay attention to hospice care education for nursing students.
