Abstract:Objective To analyze the effect of intravenous remifentanil on painless enteroscopy in elderly patients with hypertension. Methods A total of 66 elderly hypertensive patients with ASA grade I-II who underwent painless enteroscopy in the gastroenterology department of a hospital from April 2020 to April 2022 were enrolled as research subjects, and the patients were divided into a control group and an experimental group by random list method, the control group was treated with intravenous propofol-remifentanil anesthesia, and the experimental group was treated with intravenous remifentanil. Results There was no significant difference in the incidence of muscular stiffness between the experimental and control groups during anesthesia enteroscopy (P>0.05). The incidence rates of hypotension, respiratory depression, physical movement, and hypoxemia in the experimental group were 9.09%, 6.06%, 6.06%, and 3.03% respectively, and the incidence rates of the control groups were 60.61%, 36.36%, 27.27%, and 24.24% respectively (χ2=19.286, 9.066, 5.345, 6.304; all P<0.005). The postoperative recovery time of the experimental group was (5.576±0.030) min, shorter than that of the control group: (15.121±0.192) min (t=7.32, P<0.05). Conclusion The use of simple intravenous remifentanil infusion in painless enteroscopy in elderly hypertensive patients can reduce the incidence of severe hypotension and hypoxemia, shorten the awakening and recovery time of patients, and has a wide application value.
