Abstract:Objective To explore the relationship and underlying mechanisms among health literacy, self-efficacy, self-management, and healthy lifestyle in 600 college students. Methods From May to December 2021, a sample of 600 college students were recruited in the study by using a convenient sampling. Their status was investigated with General Information Questionnaire, General Self-efficacy Scale, Residents’ Health Literacy Assessment Scale for Public Health Emergencies, Adult Self-management Ability Assessment Scale and College Students’ Healthy Lifestyle Assessment Scale. Person correlation was used to analyze the correlation between variables, and Amos was used to test the mediating effect. Results Health literacy was positively correlated with self-efficacy, self-management, and healthy lifestyle (r=0.703, P<0.01; r=0.697, P<0.01; r=0.536, P<0.01); self-efficacy was positively correlated with self-management and healthy lifestyle (r=0.852, P<0.01; r=0.639, P<0.01); self-management was positively correlated with healthy lifestyle (r=0.592, P<0.01). Mediating analysis showed that the health literacy had both direct effect (0.198) and indirect effect (0.563) on the college students, and the total effect was 0.761. The mediating effect of self-management was 0.422, and the chain mediating effect of self-efficacy and self-management was 0.141. Conclusion Self-management and self-efficacy played a mediating role in the impact of health literacy on the healthy lifestyle of 600 college students.
