Abstract:Objective To investigate the prevalence of HIV/AIDS in Xuzhou City from 1997 to 2022, and to evaluate the differences in HIV/AIDS infection routes among different populations, to provide evidence for HIV/AIDS prevention and control in the city. Methods Based on the National AIDS Comprehensive Prevention and Control Information System, the data on HIV/AIDS cases in Xuzhou City from 1997 to 2022 were downloaded, and the annual incidence and composition of HIV/AIDS cases were statistically analyzed. Results From 1997 to 2022, a total of 3 342 HIV/AIDS cases were reported in Xuzhou City, and 2 762 cases were alive (present). The incidence of HIV/AIDS in Xuzhou City showed a rapid upward trend (χ2trend=706.856, P<0.001), with the most obvious increase from 2010 to 2017, and fluctuated after 2017 and remained at a historically high level. Before 2012, the annual new cases were mainly in Tongshan District, but the proportion showed a downward trend, and after 2012, the new cases were mainly in the main urban areas. From 2012 to 2022, the proportion of cases over 55 years old in the proportion of new cases in that year showed an increasing trend. There were statistically significant differences in the transmission route of HIV/AIDS among different genders, ages, education levels, and occupations in Xuzhou City (P<0.05). The overall epidemic was mainly sexually transmitted, accounting for 89.71%, and before 2008, blood-borne transmission was the mainstay, and no blood-borne cases were reported after 2013. The first case of homosexual transmission was found in 2007, and since then the proportion of homosexual transmission cases has been increasing year by year. The top three occupations were farmers (26.88%), commercial services (24.04%), and unemployed (20.24%). Conclusions The overall epidemic of HIV/AIDS in Xuzhou City is at a historically high level, and the transmission route of cases is mainly sexual, among which homosexual transmission is increasing rapidly. Therefore, it is necessary to further strengthen the publicity and intervention of the elderly population, homosexual men, rural migrant workers, and others to curb the epidemic of AIDS.
