Abstract:Objective To investigate the current situation and influencing factors of poor vision among junior high school students in Yinzhou District, Ningbo City, to provide references for vision health intervention. Methods The cluster sampling method was used to survey the junior high school students of Ningbo No. 7 Middle School and the chi-square test was used to compare the incidence of poor vision and the rate of myopia, and the multivariate analysis was performed by logistic regression analysis. Results A total of 514 students were surveyed, including 268 (52.14%) boys, 246 (47.86%) girls, 170 (33.08%) in the first grade of junior high school, 176 (34.24%) in the second grade of junior high school, and 168 (32.68%) in the third grade of junior high school. Univariate analysis showed that there were significant differences in the rate of poor vision among junior high school students of different grades, genders, and different durations of outdoor activities during the day in the past week (P=0.017, 0.033, 0.039). Multivariate analysis showed that third-grade junior high school students were more likely to develop poor vision and myopia (P=0.012), and the protective factors for poor vision were eye exercises ≥ twice a day (P=0.015) and outdoor activities ≥ 2 hours every day in the past week (P<0.05). Eye exercises ≥ twice a day were a protective factor for myopia (P<0.05). Conclusion To strengthen the vision care of junior high school students, it is necessary to standardize and guide the implementation of daily eye exercises and encourage students to do more outdoor activities during the day.
