Objective To analyze the trends, demographic characteristics, and transmission routes of HIV/AIDS infection among young students newly reported in Xuzhou City from 2015 to 2020, so as to provide a reference for the formulation of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment measures for young students. Methods The HIV/AIDS information of young students aged 15-24 newly reported in Xuzhou City from 2015 to 2020 was collected from the national AIDS prevention and treatment information system, and the epidemiological characteristics were descriptively analyzed. Results From 2015 to 2020, a total of 76 cases of young students were reported in Xuzhou City, of which the proportion of newly reported HIV/AIDS cases among young students aged 18-24 was statistically significant among different years (χ2=13.691, P=0.017), with the highest rate of new cases reported among young students in 2019, at 11.9/105. Among the young student cases, the male-to-female sex ratio was 75∶1, which was higher than that of non-student cases at 10.5∶1 (χ2=4.867, P=0.027). The proportion of cases among young students was the largest in the 18-24-year-old group, accounting for 96.8%, which was higher than that of 88.2% of young non-student cases (χ2=8.158, P=0.004). In Xuzhou urban area, young student cases accounted for 72.4%, which was higher than that of young non-students (41.7%) (χ2=21.143, P<0.001). Among young students, the cases were mainly found in voluntary counseling and testing, and medical institutions, accounting for 59.2% and 30.3%, respectively. The Joinpoint regression model analysis showed that the annual percentage change (APC) of the new reporting rate in students aged 15-24 was -5.8, and the new reporting rate of young students remained stable. Conclusion The epidemic trend of HIV/AIDS among young students reported in Xuzhou City from 2015 to 2020 was relatively stable, with male homosexuality transmission predominates, and HIV/AIDS knowledge publicity and behavioral intervention of young students should be strengthened.
