Objective To explore the clinical effect, symptom relief, and pulmonary function value of Zhisou powder and Sanzi Yangqin decoction on senile pneumonia. Methods A total of 150 elderly patients with pneumonia admitted to our hospital from January 2018 to February 2021 were randomly divided into an experimental group (n=75) and a control group (n=75). The control group was treated with conventional western medicine. The experimental group was treated with Zhisou powder and Sanzi Yangqin decoction on the basis of the control group. The clinical efficacy, symptom relief time, and pulmonary function before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. t-test and χ2 test were used for the comparison between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the experimental group was 94.67%, higher than that of the control group (80.00%) (χ2=7.292, P=0.007). The disappearance time of expectoration and cough, the absorption time of inflammation, and the disappearance time of lung rales in the experimental group were (5.12±0.42) d, (8.10±0.58) d, and (8.68±0.53) d respectively, which were shorter than those in the control group: (7.15±0.65) d, (11.02±0.89) d, and (6.98±0.46) d, (t=22.717, 23.805, 20.979, all P<0.01). After treatment, the FEV1 and FVC of the experimental group were (2.87±0.18) L and (4.02±0.25) L respectively, which were higher than those of the control group: (1.76±0.14) L and (2.65±0.21) L (t=42.155, 36.339, both P<0.01). Conclusion Zhisou powder combined with Sanzi Yangqin decoction can improve clinical efficacy, improve clinical symptoms and lung function, and have clinical application value.
