Objective To analyze the epidemic characteristics of pulmonary tuberculosis in students in Yanling County from 2014 to 2019, so as to provide the evidence for the further prevention and control of pulmonary tuberculosis in students. Methods The data of pulmonary tuberculosis cases from 2014 to 2019 in China Tuberculosis Management Information System were collected and analyzed by the descriptive epidemiological analysis method. Results From 2014 to 2019, 41 cases of pulmonary tuberculosis were reported in Yanling County, with an average annual incidence of 7.85/105. The student patients accounted for 2.3% of the total emerging population, with the lowest incidence in 2015 (3.65/105) and the highest in 2016 (12.94/105). The incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis in the students was lower than the whole population in Yanling County and the difference was statistically significant (χ2=198.13, P<0.001). However, there was no significant difference in the incidence rate of pulmonary tuberculosis reported among 6 years (χ2trend=0.797, P=0.372). The ratio of male to female was 1.56:1, and 70.73% of the patients aged 14-19. The peak of incidence was from April to May and from August to October every year, and the source of student patients was mainly found by referral (48.78%). Conclusion The incidence of tuberculosis in students in Yanling County is at a low level, but the health education should still be strengthened, and pulmonary tuberculosis patients should be found and treated in time to avoid the spread of tuberculosis in schools.
