Objective To investigate the expression of cyclic RNA (ciRS-7) and its prognostic value in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. Methods Real-time PCR was used to detect the expression of ciRS-7 in 32 cases of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and normal tissues. Results ciRS-7 of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma was highly expressed compared with that of the normal tissues around the cancer. The clinical stage, smoking history, infiltration, lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis affected the expression of ciRS-7 (P<0. 05). Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that the pa-tients with high ciRS-7 expression levels had shorter survival time than those with low ciRS-7 expression (Log rank test, P<0. 001). In addition, Cox regression analysis showed that ciRS-7 was valuable for prognostic evaluation in laryngeal squa-mous cell carcinoma. Conclusion ciRS-7 is closely related to the prognosis of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. ciRS-7 is up-regulated in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and it may be an independent prognostic indicator for laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma.
