Abstract:Objective To investigate the awareness rate of knowledge about human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), high risk behavior occurrence and related factors, and to explore the HIV infection, hepatitis C and syphilis in the male floating population in Kunshan City, so as to provide the evidence for formulating the AIDS comprehensive prevention strategies. Methods According to the requirement of “National HIV sentinel surveillance implementation plan” in 2015, a questionnaire survey, including the demographic characteristics, flow characteristics, HIV related knowledge and high risk behaviors, was conducted and the serological tests were performed in the male floating population in Kunshan City from April to June in 2015. Results A total of 450 male floating people were investigated, and the positive rates of HIV, syphilis and hepatitis C were 0.00%, 0.00% and 0.50% respectively. The overall awareness rate of HIV/AIDS knowledge was 85.2%, and the awareness rate was increased with the educational level, but the difference was not significant (χ2=5.53, P=0.063). The incidence of commercial sexual behavior was 3.94%, the rate of casual sexual behavior was 16.26%, and the casual sexual behavior was correlated with the marital status (χ2=10.77, P=0.013). The condom use rate was low. Conclusion The awareness rate of HIV/AIDS knowledge is high among the male floating population in Kunshan City, but the rate of casual sexual behavior is high and the condom use rate is low. Therefore, the comprehensive interventions such as health education and condom promotion should be strengthened.
