Exploration of family physician responsibility system combined with health education to improve thalassemia screening compliance

Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of family physician responsibility system combined with knowledge, attitude and practice education on improving the compliance of thalassemia screening for the husband of thalassemia screening positive pregnant women (referred to as "thalassemia pregnant positive husband"). Methods From October 2018 to October 2019, 100 thalassemia pregnant positive husbands in a street health service center were randomly divided into a control group and a study group, with 50 cases in each group. The control group received the routine health education and the study group received the family physician responsibility system combined with knowledge, attitude and practice education. The influence of two health education modes on the compliance of thalassemia screening for thalassemia pregnant positive husbands was investigated, analyzed and compared. Results Before the intervention, there was no significant difference in the related knowledge, health belief and compliance of the two groups (all P>0.05). After the intervention, the scores of knowledge, health belief and behavior compliance of the study group were (19.46±2.23), (16.32±1.70) and 88%, which were higher than those of the control group . The differences were statistically significant (t=- 8.77, - 6.52, χ2=10.8, P<0.05). Conclusion The application of the family physician service combined with knowledge, attitude and practice education mode in the prevention and control of thalassemia can effectively improve the screening compliance of thalassemia pregnant positive husbands.
