Abstract:Objective To understand the current status of primary dysmenorrhea among female college students in Tianjin City and explore its influencing factors. Methods From March 2016 to March 2017, the female college students from 3 medical colleges and 3 non-medical colleges in Tianjin City were used as the research objects. The method of convenient sampling was adopted to issue self-filled questionnaires for investigation. Results Among the 940 female college students surveyed, the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea was 45.3%. Among them, medical students (42.2%) were compared with non-medical students (49.5%) (χ2=5.009, P=0.025), the difference in the incidence of dysmenorrhea between the two groups was statistically significant. The multivariate analysis showed that older age, non-medical majors, cold during menstruation, and sedentary menstruation were significantly related to primary dysmenorrhea (P<0.05). Conclusion Primary dysmenorrhea has a higher incidence among female college students in Tianjin City, and is related to bad behaviors and habits during menstruation. The health education on menstrual health care should be actively carried out among college students.
