Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of 0.01% atropine eye drops combined with Flipper lens on visual recovery in children with moderate myopia. Methods The clinical data of 76 children with moderate myopia (140 eyes) admitted to our hospital from January 2020 to December 2021 were selected, and they were divided into a control group (72 eyes) and an observation group (68 eyes) by random number table method, with 38 cases in each group. The children in the control group received 0.01% atropine eye drops, and the children in the observation group received 0.01% atropine eye drops combined with Flipper lens. The diopter, unaided visual acuity, axial length, pupil diameter, intraocular pressure, and accommodative sensitivity were measured before treatment and 6 months after treatment in the two groups, and the incidence of ocular discomfort symptoms was compared between the two groups. Results The diopters of the two groups after 6 months of treatment were lower than those before treatment, and the naked eye visions, pupil diameters, and adjustment sensitivities were higher than those before treatment. The diopter of the observation group was (-2.20±0.64) D, lower than that of the control group: (-2.83±0.70) D. The naked eye vision, pupil diameter, and adjustment sensitivity of the observation group were (0.75±0.10), (6.59±1.01) mm, and (18.42±3.11) cpm, respectively, higher than those of the control group: (0.63±0.14), (5.04±0.88) mm, and (14.28±2.82) cpm, respectively, and the differences were statistically significant (t=4.095, 4.299, 7.133, 4.611, all P<0.001). There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in intraocular pressure levels before treatment: (18.18±2.15) mmHg vs (18.20±2.12) mmHg, and after 6 months of treatment: (18.50±2.13) mmHg vs (18.40±2.20) mmHg (t=0.041, 0.201, P=0.968, 0.841). The incidence of uncomfortable symptoms was 6.94% in the control group and 5.88% in the observation group, and there was no significant difference between the two groups (χ2=0.008, P=0.929). Conclusion The 0.01% atropine eye drops combined with Flipper lens can effectively promote the recovery of vision in children with moderate myopia, and it has high safety, which is worth promoting.
