Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of azithromycin combined with ambroxol hydrochloride on pulmonary function and cytokines in children with mycoplasma pneumonia. Methods A total of 106 children with mycoplasma pneumonia treated in a hospital from February 2018 to February 2019 were randomly divided into a control group (n=53) and a trial group (n=53). The control group was treated with azithromycin and the trial group was treated with azithromycin combined with ambroxol hydrochloride. The lung function and cytokines were investigated and compared between the two groups. Results After the treatment, in the trial group, the average maximum ventilation volume (MVV) was (49.57±2.84) L/min, the forced exhalation volume/forced lung activity in the first second (FEV1/FVC) was (72.19±4.08)%, and the maximum breath flow (PEF) level was (2.92±0.18) L/s, which were higher than those in the control group ; in the trial group, IL-17 was (19.82±3.54) pg/mL, IL-18 was (104.35±17.53) pg/mL, and interferon gamma (IFN- γ) was (26.58±11.86) pg/mL, which were lower than those in the control group [(24.57± 6.47) pg/mL, (121.19±15.76) pg/mL, and (36.59±12.93) pg/mL, and there were significant differences between the two groups (all P<0.05). Conclusion Azithromycin combined with ambroxol hydrochloride can effectively improve the pulmonary function of children with mycoplasma pneumonia, reduce the level of cytokines, and is beneficial for the rehabilitation of children with mycoplasma pneumonia.
